Fuel Optimized Rotation for Satellite Formations in Free Space
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper considers the problem of rotating a formation of satellites from one orientation to another, using an optimal amount of fuel. The formation is constrained to have the same shape at the beginning and end of a maneuver. However, the shape is unconstrained throughout the maneuver. This implies that to optimize fuel, each spacecraft travels in a straight line, from its beginning to end position. A cost function, motivated by the en-tropy function from information theory, is used to trade oo fuel minimization verses equalizing the fuel across the constellation to avoid fuel starvation.

One of the main factors for satellite design is simulating of total ionizing dose due to space ionizing rays in devices used in space. By measurement of induced dose based on available data in different altitudes, expenses of designing, satellite weight and amount of needed fuel will be reduced. Optimum design of satellite for protecting satellite against ionizing radiation has considerable eff...
متن کاملEffect of Rotation and Stiffness on Surface Wave Propagation in a Elastic Layer Lying Over a Generalized Thermodiffusive Elastic Half-Space with Imperfect Boundary
The present investigation is to study the surface waves propagation with imperfect boundary between an isotropic elastic layer of finite thickness and a homogenous isotropic thermodiffusive elastic half- space with rotation in the context of Green-Lindsay (G-L model) theory. The secular equation for surface waves in compact form is derived after developing the mathematical model. The phase velo...
متن کاملReflection From Free Surface of a Rotating Generalized Thermo-Piezoelectric Solid Half Space
The analysis of rotational effect on the characteristics of plane waves propagating in a half space of generalized thermo-piezoelectric medium is presented in context of linear theory of thermo-piezoelectricity including Coriolis and centrifugal forces. The governing equations for a rotating generalized thermo-piezoelectric medium are formulated and solved for plane wave solutions to show the p...
